Once you have chosen a report type, you can then drag and drop the fields from ‘Fields’ into the X and Y axis. The fields are the questions you have asked.
For example, I want to have a bar chart that shows how many Incidents there has been per Category.
X axis: This needs to be a number field so that we can use a ‘Count’ type to count the number of incidents.
Y Axis: Incident Category
Once the chart is set up, there will be a live preview in which you will be able to check any changes made to your chart.
In the X axis you can edit:
- Title: You can change the title of the field.
- Sort: Sort by ascending, descending or none
- Value: Sum, Count, Average, Max, Min and Percentage
In the Y axis you can edit:
- Title: Title of the field
- Interval: This will only appear for date fields. You can choose to show the data in Days, Weeks, Months or Years.
- Sort: Sort by ascending, descending or none
- Columns: This is how many columns your chart will have, from 4 to 364.
To further analyse the data, you could add a field into the X2 axis.
For example, I have pulled the ‘Incident Date’ field into the X2 axis. Now my bar chart is stacked and tells me the incident date of each incident.
